Einführung (Digital/Analog)
Die zugrunde liegende Idee ist es den digitalen Entwurf mit den Techniken der Originaldruckgrafik zu verknüpfen. Es soll eine direkte Verbindung zwischen der elektronischen Datei und dem analogem Druckträger geschaffen werden.
Anhand von praktischen Versuchen werden die Grenzen und Möglichkeiten der CNC- und Lasertechnologie als Gravierverfahren für diesen Zweck untersucht.
Dabei wird der Moment der zwei sich überlagernden Arbeitsprinzipien (analog/digital) in den visuellen Medien genutzt, um Vergleiche anzustellen und daraus Aussagen ableiten zu können.
Das Projekt leistet einen Beitrag zur Erweiterung der Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten von Kunst und Design und ermöglicht den analogen Druckverfahren durch den Anschluss an zeitgemässe Entwurfstechniken eine Belebung und möglicherweise eine Weiterentwicklung.

Introduction (digital/analog)
The idea of this project is to reconnect the digital design processes to the traditional techniques of printmaking. Aim here is to create a direct link between the electronic data or file and the analog printing medium.
The idea is to experiment with digital files and to explore the boundaries and possibilities of CNC- as well as laser technology, especially for the purpose of engraving.
In order to make comparisons and to discuss the results of this project, the two overlapping, operating principals in the visual media, the digital and the analog, will be the main focus here.
This project, Hephaistos, can contribute to the diversification of means of expression in art and design and, on the other hand, advance the technical development of printing by reconnecting printmaking to contemporary design practice.
